AFRICA

African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF)

The African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) is an independent non-profit, non governmental organization (NGO) whose mission is to empower the disadvantaged people in Africa to enjoy better health. AMREF defines the disadvantaged as people who suffer high prevalence and impact of major health problems and challenges like malaria, HIV/AIDS, adolescent and reproductive health, water and sanitation and have poor access to health care.

Straight Talk

Straight Talk Foundation originated out of Straight Talk newspaper that was first published in 1993 and funded by UNICEF. Today, Straight Talk Foundation is a health communication NGO that produces IEC materials for adolescents. The broad objective of the foundation is to contribute to the improved mental, social and physical development of Uganda adolescents (10-19) and young adults (20-24).

Uganda AIDS Commission

The Uganda AIDS Commission (UAC) was established by Statute of Parliament in 1992 and placed under the Office of the President to coordinate the multi-sectoral efforts. UAC exists to provide leadership in coordination of HIV/AIDS programs and activities of all stakeholders in Uganda through advocacy, joint planning, monitoring and evaluation, for the eventual elimination of the AIDS scourge in Uganda.

Uganda Centers of Excellence Uganda AIDS Information Centre (AIC)

The AIDS Information Centre, AIC is a non governmental organisation established in 1990, then as a pilot project to provide the public with a facility for HIV counselling, free voluntary and anonymous human immuno-deficiency virus (HIV) test. The goal of the AIC is to reduce the further transmission of HIV and to enhance the psychological and social adjustement of those already infected.

International Training Program National Family Planning Coordinating Board (ITP/BKKBN)

In the mid 80s, when Indonesia’s demographic changes and its family planning program’s achievement started to gain international recognition, the National Family Planning Coordinating Board or BKKBN began to share its experiences with foreign visitors. In 1987, BKKBN established the International Training Program (ITP) for family planning/reproductive health (FP/RH) program to provide a formal ways for hosting increasing number of visitors.

Usaid looked for a fast and effective mechanisms to reach the most affected communities to solve critical health situations. NicaSalud's mission is to "improve health of vulnerable groups through a network devoted to high quality interventions."
